JOSIE!

Birthdate:  April 2003

Coloring:  Mostly white with brown face markings, faint black spots on her belly skin.

Favorite activities:  Walking, snuggling with her family and hunting vermin.

Children:  Very good with all age children, even toddlers, although she can jump and be a little intimidating to them.

Ease of Training:  She is very eager to learn but needs lot of reinforcement.  Responds to "stay"  in the house, but that is more difficult for her outside because of all the temptations.  She wants to please her people but does have a very strong hunting focus which can draw her away pretty easily.

Desire to please:  Totally wants to please her humans.

Likes to ride in a car:  Is excited to get into the car, but she tends to stay curled up and pants while moving.

Likes to walk:  Loves her walks.  She will pull if she sees a chipmunk or a squirrel.

Strangers:  Barks initially when she hears someone coming to the house, but as soon as they are in the door she jumps and just wants to meet and greet.  She will jump into anyone's lap, given the opportunity.

NOTE FROM RESCUE: Josie is in need of a home because she's proven to be untrustworthy with the chickens on the farm she lives on. Jack Russell Terriers are NOT dogs who are typically good with frenzied animals that panic easily. Please do not apply for Josie if you have chickens or other small animals not suitable to life with a JRT. Check out the JRTCA website's Bad Dog Talk! The best home for Josie will be one that understands Jack Russell Terriers love to hunt!

FINEGAN!

Birthday: Februay 9, 2008

Spayed/Neutered: Spayed female

Coloring: white and tan

Favorite activities: playing tug, chewing on toys/rawhide chews/bones, cuddle time, fetch

Training completed: sit, stay/wait, kennel up, lay down, roll over (this is a new one, but close to 100%), come (in the house, but not always if she's on the run), leave/drop it, high-five, shake

Children: Good with respectful children.

Ease of training: Very quick and eager to learn. Her only difficulty in training is a poor trainer with limited time to work with her.  Will do just about anything for a treat.

Desire to please: very much wants to please us

With other dogs: She is playful. Offers toys. Wrestles with our other dog who is much bigger than her.  "Tattles" to us when she wants a toy that the other has rather than trying to take it or being aggressive.

Likes to ride in car: Yes, very much so.

Likes to walk: Loves to go for walks.  Does good with a harness, but needs work and patience on a leash. When we're actually working on leash manners, she does very good. But if we're just heading out without it being an obvious training time, not so much. Knows to wait until you go out the door and she follows when you tell her to -- we've been working on this recently and she's got it down pretty good.

How is he/she with strangers: Friendly. She does jump but this has been getting better over time.  She knows to kennel up when someone comes to the door; sometimes she does it on her own, other times we need to remind her.

She is microchipped.

Finnegan will be a private adoption directly through her owner, as Russell Rescue cannot foster at this time.
